This is a very easy illusion to set up.
Simply cover an area or a room with black bed sheets.
The entire room must be totally enclosed. We started out
using black
sheeting but found that it was too shiny ..... the sheeting didn't hide the
actor inside. We later stapled bed sheets over the sheeting and
the actor blended right in when it was dark.The ceiling must be covered as well to make the area as dark as possible. We used the $1.87 Glow in The Dark Jason Masks that are at Walmart (they'd be half price if you got them after Halloween!! :o) We used about 20 of them to cover a 10' x 12' room. After you've hung the black sheets, hang up the Jason masks at random around the room. We hung them all around he walls and suspended some from the ceiling with fishing line (it will be invisible in the dark). Then place an actor in a black robe or sweatsuit with the same black face mask on. This illusion is based on the same premise as the Dot Room illusion. Victims walking through the haunt won't know there is a real person in the room until it's too late. If the actor is really good he/she can pop out of the wall and scare the guests and then blend back in and and pop out again. They can get two or three scares out of it. |

**We also found that the Glow in the Dark masks needed to be exposed to light in order to keep glowing in the dark. This room was in the middle of the haunt and no light naturally got to it so we hooked up a string of regular light bulbs on the ceiling and turned them on for 2-3 hours before we opened. We were open from 7:00-Midnight and usually they glowed for the full five hours. If there was any break in people, the Jason actor would flip on the lights in between groups to beef up the glow. We tried using a black light to keep them glowing all the time, but found that the black light gave off too much light in the room and the actor was seen too easily. |
